About Bramble Green

Apples, sheep & knitwear 🍏🐑🧶

Our farm has three focuses which keep evolving with time.

Our knitwear studio/shop focuses on sustainable Irish knitwear and is open all year round to visitors. Our apple orchard includes some really mature traditional Irish trees and our harvest have been abundant. The apples have been sold in local Farm shops, made into cider and also chutneys.

Our growing flock includes our friendly Valais Blackmore ram Bramble as well as his son and 11 ewes.

Farm & Sustainability

We are breeding naturally. We are growing old Irish apple trees alongside the areas where some of the sheep graze. We are focusing on woodland areas for example with have a patch of hazel trees as well as all of our apple trees (over 100). We have many types of berries growing - including blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, wineberries, gooseberries. We have plum trees. We have many willow trees bordering are small grazing patches.

We are grazing our sheep in two different areas. Both of which are on Clontyfinnan Road and in both areas we also have an Apple Orchard project. Alongside this we also have our own hives where we are harvesting honey.

Wool Production

Is your farm open to hosting tours, workshops, or demonstrative events for the public related to your livestock or wool production?

We don’t have an open farm but we have a knitwear shop. We have a small flock of 13 rare breed crosses with lambs to come in the Spring.

Do you currently sell your wool commercially, or is it reserved for personal or local use?

We have given our last batch of wool to a local artisan to make rugs.
